KataPrep is a study app for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt exam. This page explains, in plain language, what data the app handles, where it lives, and what you can do about it. No jargon, no dark patterns.
KataPrep is made by Lean Software Studio, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

To run the app and sync it across your devices, KataPrep stores the things you'd expect a study app to remember:
This is study and gameplay data. It is not used to profile you, and it is not shared for advertising.
When you first open the app, it creates an anonymous user ID. This is a random identifier — it is not your name, your email, or anything derived from your device. Its only job is to mark which synced data is yours.
If you choose to link your progress, you sign in with Apple (on iPhone) or Google (on Android). The sign-in provider then returns an identity for your account — a stable user ID, and an email. For Sign in with Apple this is Apple's private relay address, unless you choose to share your real one. KataPrep does not display or use your email; it is held only as part of your sign-in identity, so we can recognise you on a new device. The app stores no other profile information — no name, no photo, no contacts.
The daily study reminder is scheduled on your device by the operating system. It does not send your data anywhere.
To find and fix problems that would otherwise go unreported, KataPrep sends a crash and error report when something goes wrong in the app. This report is handled by Sentry, and it contains: the error and where in the app it happened; basic device and app information — device model, operating system version, app version, available memory and storage, and connection type; and your language, timezone, and accessibility settings. It does not contain your name, your email, your study content, or your location. The identifier Sentry uses to group reports is generated by Sentry and is not linked to your KataPrep account. We use this data only to diagnose crashes and improve stability — never to profile you, and never for advertising.
KataPrep does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or behavioural trackers. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
We use Google Firebase as our backend processor:
Google acts as our processor and handles this data only on our instructions, under Google's data processing terms. Where any data is processed outside the EEA, that transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as incorporated in Google's terms.
We also use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) to collect the crash and diagnostic reports described above. Sentry processes this data in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) and retains it for a limited period before automatically deleting it. Sentry acts as our processor and handles this data only on our instructions.
Because we are based in the Netherlands, the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies. We process your data:
We keep your data for as long as you use KataPrep. You can delete it yourself at any time — see Account & Data Deletion. When you delete your account, your synced data, your account identifier, and (on iPhone) your Sign in with Apple connection are removed immediately. We do not keep a copy of your synced study data. Any crash reports held by Sentry are not linked to your account and are deleted automatically after Sentry's retention period.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data, and to restrict or object to its processing. With KataPrep you can act on the main ones yourself, in seconds:
If you believe we've handled your data wrongly, you can contact us at privacy@kataprep.com, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag).
KataPrep is a professional exam-preparation app intended for adults studying for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. In the Netherlands the age of digital consent is 16; if you are under that age, please use KataPrep only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
